Tempeh Bites

These are a mini version of our tempeh skewers. Marinated tempeh with your favourite veggies. They are simple to prepare.

 

1 block of tempeh, cut into small pieces

cup soy sauce

1 tbsp vegetable oil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 tsp ginger

1 tsp Chinese 5 spice powder

 

Your favourite vegetables, cut into small pieces, we used:

spring onion, baby tomatoes, red capsicum and mushroom

 

(Olive picks or toothpicks for skewering)

 

Mix together the soy sauce, oil, garlic, ginger and 5 spice. Cover the tempeh with the marinate and refrigerate for about an hour.

 

Preheat oven to 180degC.

 

Thread the vegetables onto the sticks - with the tempeh at the bottom so they stand up. Place on a baking tray and bake for about 10-15 minutes - until vegetables are just soft.

 

Note: you may find the tops of the skewers burn a little in the oven. To prevent this you can cover the top of each one with a little piece of foil.
